Promoting access to proper sanitation in informal settlements
Billions in the world have no access to proper sanitation. Meanwhile decision makers lack education, technical expertise and platforms to collaborate towards improvement of conditions. An estimated 2.5-billion people around the world do not have access to safe and hygiene toilets. This is harmful to the health and wellbeing of children, undermines women’s and girls’ dignity and safety, and hinders economic development and growth.
We understand the toilet sanitation crises in South Africa with children found dead in a pit latrine as well as schools being unable to provide adequate toilet facilities for school children. The girls in schools use alternative sources to use the toilet e.g bushes, thereby exposing themselves to disease and uncontrollable dangers.
We have identified communities in South Africa especially in the rural areas where toilet sanitation is needed. With your donation we can be able to provide a clean toilet and environment to assist a girl child to remain in school due to these challenges in the community.
